Wilcom - Introduction
Wilcom International is currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary as the worlds leading provider of innovative, quality embroidery solutions.
Globally recogised for producing the number one embroidery design software ES, Wilcom develops and markets sophisticated software solutions for embroidery, tufted rug and carpet design and manufacture worldwide.
"Few software companies enjoy a history that extends from the time before the advent of the personal computer to the current day,, said Robert Pongrass, CEO of Pongrass Group and Founder of Wilcom International "We are the only company in the embroidery and fabric impressions industry whose heritage of innovation and customer care reaches the quarter century mark."
"Over the past 25 years, we've continually supported our customers' efforts to produce finer work, more efficiently with fewer barriers and greater accuracy,, he added.
Throughout its 25-year history, Pongrass and his technical director, Bill Wilson, lay claim to a number of industry firsts.
In 1980, it was Wilcom International that introduced the first computer graphics embroidery design system running on a mini-computer. It enhanced this technology in 1982 with the introduction of the first multi-user system that allowed more than one person to be working on a different part of the embroidery process, vastly streamlining production times.
Wilcom later introduced direct computer control of a schiffli machine via an electronic Jacquard and were the first to bring their Computer Embroidery Design (CED) software to the then fledgling personal computer industry in 1984.
Wilcom continued to innovate throughout the 80s and into the 90s. Object oriented programming was used to incorporate drawing design into the CED software while the second release of Wilcom's ES suite was the first to use a graphical user interface, well ahead of the release of Microsoft Windows™, making drawing more intuitive for the artist and designer.
"Our technical leadership has always been with our customers' needs in mind,, said Bill Wilson. "Designing embroidery software, and more recently, complete workflow solutions like the product we're announcing today, ensures Wilcom stays ahead of its competition, but more importantly, is the preferred brand for the industry.
Wilson cites the preference of many popular machine manufacturers to choose Wilcom technology as one further example of the company's leadership.
Many people don't know that today's leading sewing machines incorporate Wilcom technology,, he said. "That kind of endorsement shows we have a unique perspective on what the market needs and wants.
Understanding how its users amassed vast quantities of design data led Wilcom to incorporate design and data management into its workflow suite, while personalised computer based training has made it easier and faster to deploy.
While the global embroidery industry continues to grow, it remains under constant pressure to reduce costs while improving quality, throughput and profitability. Robert Pongrass believes Wilcom's new business management software is the perfect addition to any professional embroidery organisation.
"We believe the combination of our world class embroidery software ES with Wilcom Design Worlflow is the definitive solution for small to medium sized organisations,, he said.
"We now have every element of the embroidery process together in a tightly integrated application suite. It is only when an embroidery company can produce a perfect sample of ‘one' efficiently that it can compete effectively. Large or small, we want every Wilcom customer to enjoy that level of satisfaction and efficiency.,
